WPF Dead, Silverlight In Trouble?

  1. There seems to be a struggle going on within Microsoft over Web and desktop
    technology directions
    <http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/09/09/microsoft_html_5/>. Looks like
Windows Presentation Foundation is only going to be used in Visual Studio
and nothing else. Silverlight of course has to contend with HTML5; given the
amount of cross-vendor support for the latter, I think bets have to lean
that way. And so what if Microsoft adds Windows-specific extensions to their
HTML5 implementation in Internet Explorer? They’re going to have a hard time
enticing developers back into that cul-de-sac, after they were trapped once
    with the stagnation of IE6.

    It’s a cross-platform world from now on.
