  2. Yes, you have to go to the update link and download their instructions on
    how to fix it.

Douglas, this still works for me--since last summer. Hope it helps you
too. If so, please reply to give more credibility that others may benefit
also. (I did NOT develop it; just found and copied and used it. Finding it
works, several others on several forums have had success too. Just a
simpler, 1-2-3 of one of, seemingly, MS's suggestions. sdlomi2

Thanks ..Fred for the information. It is clear as mud...upate link??? I
went to the micrsoft web site and saw numerous directions/instructions:
Refomat my hard drive, turn off all my viurs and security protections,
download missing files, and many more. Would appreciate you telling me
with one of these is the right fix or directions on where to get the right
    info. Much thanks. Douglas

    Hey Doug;
I am having the same problem of sorts, I emailed MS got a quick
reply telling me they would get back with me. That was 2 weeks ago,
and nothing yet. I have disabled auto updates and the windows
defender and am going to wait for SP3 <g> No one seems to have a
logical answer for this problem and I do not have time to read
thousands of pages of MS BS. Good Luck
PS: The technical writers for MS have a lot to be desired. <g>

  7. That's what I'm talking about! I too did NOT
develop it, but I beta tasked it for awhile,
until I lost those forms to get the discounts
    and "Easter egg" passwords.

I like the part where you can access it via
the menu bar and put in your own code or
links then make shortcuts for the "speed-dial"
feature if you haven't got time for them to
fix it before there's problems with whole
network or something other than the normal
milieu that come with the standard issues.

Or - just download one of the other ones!

Not like it's rocket surgery or brain science... ?

    Sorry, my BAD. s

Try re-registering the windows update components. This may help fix a
    corrupt installer

    1. Click on Start and Run,
    2. Type "REGSVR32 WUAPI.DLL" (without quotation marks) and press
    Enter.
    3. Should get the message "DllRegisterServer in WUAPI.DLL succeeded"
    Click OK.
    4. Repeat above for each of the following:

    REGSVR32 WUAUENG1.DLL
    REGSVR32 ATL.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUPS2.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUCLTUI.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUPS.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUWEB.DLL
    REGSVR32 WUAUENG.DLL

    5. Reboot

Now try to install your updates.

  11. I *nose* I'd do 2 years in + 1K hours out + $250K fine
in return for my cut of the $250 million, whatever is
the cut of $7 billion, plus everything they *don't*
know about, and wtf else ever? Sounds like a grease-me
system from here... at least it sounds a loot better
    than my 401K at this point. (^;

Looks akin to our Congressmen's retirement system--PLUS their exemption
from Soc. Sec. contributions like the rest of us "peons" are stuck with.
Look at the sentence these 2 gals just got: obvious they had less political
    pull than Lerach, huh?

Following your instructions: End result, update says I have 88
updates to download, they are all listed as normal but I see this:
Download size (total): 0 KB *
Estimated time at your connection speed: 0 minutes *
    (*Downloaded; ready to install)

    And no asterisks **.

PS: If the updates are in fact downloaded ready to install, where do
    I find them?

I tried Dial-a-fix, did not work in my case.
My Computer is singing like a Canary but will not update at MS.
I have manually downloaded things I thought might be the problem but
to no avail. I emailed MS got a quick response saying they would get
back with me. Nothing yet. <g>
