Windows Updates and Outlook problems

We have 3 computers all running Win7 Home. On one computer, I would say,
50% of the time it does the Windows recommended updates, like this morning,
Outlook crashes. It only happens on the one computer and gives an error
about mail client not installed after the updates are installed and
    rebooted.
I've gone through the Microsoft suggested steps to fix but nothing works.
The only thing that works is putting in the Office 2007 disk and doing a
    repair.
Only happens on 1 of 3 computers all running same Office 2007. Of the two
that don't have a problem, one is 32, one is 64 bit. The troubled one is
    also 64 bit.
In the last 6 months, I've probably had to do a repair 5-6 times. And it's
on my wife's computer, so she gets pissed at me.
I'd just skip some of the Office updates but some are labeled critical for
    security fixes.
Any guesses? Can't find anything specific on a search.
