Why Can't I Load More Than 4-5 Songs At A Time To My iPod?

    I've had this problem for a while, but managed to deal with it. I've
    just bought an 80 gig and am preparing about 500 songs for loading. I
    don't want to have to load them 4 or 5 at a time.

    I go to MUSIC in the left hand pane under LIBRARY, select FILE, add
    file to library. I then navigate to the folder with the MP3s.
    Shouldn't I be able to select any number of songs and have them load?
    If I select more than a half dozen at most, nothing happens. Any help
    appreciated.

    Maybe it needs to be formatted?
