Which protocol to use ? Gonna need help on this..

  1. Two lan connected by VPN LAN

    LAN1. 192.168.1.x
    LAN2. 192.168.10.x

Both LAN has connection to a 208.224.x.y through its local router
    192.168.1.2 and 192.168.10.2

What I want to do is for the computers on LAN1
192.168.1.x to connect to 208.224.x.y through 192.168.1.2 when its up
or through the VPN to 192.168.10.2 when the rouer on 192.168.1.2 goes
    down.

If someone can point to a protocol or suggest a nice book for me to
read.. that would be great! Thanks

  2. This sounds like a job for HSRP or VRRP. The VPN routers need to
    support this.
