When your PC is in "SLEEP" mode... is it really sleeping??? LOL

What I mean by that is when you have the PC in the so called "sleep"
mode where you're saving power etc... Are you still connected to the
internet? Is it possible for someone to get into your files as if you
were using it to do things such as surf the web etc...? Or is it "off
limits" so to speak when it's in this state?

    Thanks in advance

    Just out of interest.

How "You can get into a computer if it's not connected to a network" when
the "connection has been broken on the network"?

Especially after you have stated that "the computer wakes up and establishes
    connections again".

As I said, simply out of interest as it seems that you are making
    contradictory statements in your response.

Yes. If you want to disconnect from the internet and you have such as a
cable modem such as Motorola SB5101 with a Standby mode button, you can
'disconnect' from the internet. There are other ways for other
Your insecurities/ vulnerabilities/ persist in sleep mode.
Why are you asking these security related questions? What is it you
really need to know about your insecurities? Perhaps you are asking the
wrong questions for what you are really trying to find out.

Do you think that if you are 'watching' your computer and it is not
asleep that you would be able to recognize some kind of insecurity? Or
why would you be more interested in your computer's insecurity while it
is asleep than you are interested in your computer's insecurity when it
    is not asleep?

I would suggest that you re-read your first post - and remove the
ambiguities in it so that it makes sense to those who are not conversant
with 'wake on LAN' settings etc (like you it would appear).

The only way that you can safely assume that an internet connected computer
cannot connect to the outside world is to shut it down and turn off the
power - or turn off the power to the modem or router.

I most certainly /understand/ it, but it's not what you wanted
