What distro for routing

Discussion in 'Network Routers' started by Abhinav Nishant, Feb 1, 2011.

  1. Hi all,
I want to setup a full fledged router using a Linux box.
The box will probably be an Intel dual core based system(32-bit) or may be
64-bit AMD based machine with 3-4 NICs on it. what will be the best
distribution to be used for routing and what will be the load that the
    machine can handle?

    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhinav

  3. Mostly the data to be routed will be to the internet through a firewall, and
the Linux box serving as a router for 2-3 subnets with about 30 users each,
and a bit of routing of the data internally, like database connections and
    code repositories.
