Anyone out there actually using Vodafone's 3G network for internet use?

Just curious, because a friend of mine is thinking of using/buying it.
I'm interested in the actual supposed "broadband" speed you get on this

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Max speed on UMTS is 384Kbps, while average is more like 256Kbps. Latency is
    quite high.

If you don't need to use it outside NZ, and a wider coverage, the Telecom
CDMA EVDO option is better - latency is lower and speed averages at about

All this changes later this year when Vodafone launches their HSDPA service,
and then again when Telecom launches their EVDO Rev A service.

Of course not all cards in the market now are compatible with neither so the
thing is: solve your problem now, because later your friend will have to
purchase another card, except that the plan is a contract, so beware before

Got it and use it for work, generally internet contectivity and remote
VPN client access. Mostly use it in/around AKL.

Been reasonably impressed so far. Speed of use is not as good as wired
broadband but way better than a modem.
