    As long as you have an MSFC, you should be fine. See documentation at
    the link below which lists Sup1s without any further indication of an
    issue.

    http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/473/81.html

    And another link that asks almost your identical question from 2004.

    Bear in mind you will probably have to upgrade the memoey.

    I converted 2 x 6509's last year and I needed to buy larger DRAM for
    the supervisor modules(128 -> 256MB), larger DRAM for the MSFC's (64
    -> 128MB) and bigger ATA cards (24 -> 64MB).

    Cisco prices are extremely high, we ended up purchasing 2nd hand
    (refurbished) items as they were 1/3 of the price.

  4. And 3rd party equivilent memory is probably 1/10th or better the cost
    (depending on item. MEM-MSFC-128MB= list is $2400, you can get this
    third party for $100, and that probably is still high).

    Just has to do with comfort level...

    .... and whether your maintainer will support you with 3rd party hardware
    installed (if that's an issue for you).
