Styling is sleak, project is secret. Was not supposed to be revealed
until Photokina. Some German hacker has been posting this all over.
Rumors are it is a very compact, internal zoom 8 Mpix camera... with a
bluetooth interface to a 24 GB solid state storage device carried in
your pocket or purse.

On the serious note, this could be a fake like some of the fakes that were
going around at the time of the PMA, like the phony Minolta "Zeus" picture
that was floating around just before K-M announced the Maxxum 7 D.

It's a very early 35mm camera prototype from the 60's.
You can find it in Minolta's history info.

Hope im not missing the joke wildly, but thats a really old camera isnt it?
Im sure ive seen it linked to as one of Minolta's very early prototypes.

 

Yup, page 35 of my Dimage Z1 manual.

 

It only says "minolta" on it - not "konica-minolta".

 

Wrong. The same image has been here for a long time. It was an early
prototype of a 35mm camera.

Not again! Study the photo. What your are seeing is genuine - it was a
Minolta concept camera from, believe it or not, the 1960s. This was one
of the designs which Minolta created when envisaging what the cameras of
tomorrow would look like. I am not sure whether it dates from 1966 or
1968, but as you can see, the Minolta logo is of that era. They had just
devised a workable 60-1??mm zoom lens (think it was 60-120mm).

It was prophetic but someone's having a bit of fun with the 'German
hacker' stuff...

Indeed a 1960's SLR from Minolta. I'm not sure if it ever went into
production, however. (Anyone?).

Per the Minolta website:
"A special camera - extremely advanced for its time - was the Minolta
Auto-Zoom-X.

Apart from its futuristic design it had an in-built electric film
advance, an electronically regulated shutter, a SLR viewfinder that
displayed every function and an open-aperture exposure-measurement
through the lens using the CLC (Contrast Light Compensator) principle.

Many of this functions of this camera could only be found years later in
some cases in other camera models."

An 8 mpix raw file at 12 bits/color would be more like 36 MB...

As stated it was just a joke and I had no idea what bluetooth's BW was...

Canon 1Ds is only 8 - 11 MBytes.

 

No, it's about 11.5MB, in MRW format.
