I've just started (today actually) in looking into the MCDST. I've been in
IT for years, and would like to have the certification to back up my
experience. Can anyone tell me... is everything needed to study for the test
available through this website? I saw the practice exams and everything
else. If I sign up for the membership, will it give me all I need to be able
    to pass the test.

I would suggest purchasing the microsoft self study books on the MCDST as
they cover all of the exam objectives that will be covered on the exam. The
books also include some practice test from measureup that will assist you.
This should be more than sufficient for someone who has years of IT

  3. Hi Kevin,

I agree with K Kaylor. Granted I have several other certifications, I went
out and bought the MS Press books, went through the Readiness Review Suites
(which I love!) and passed the two exams yesterday and today.

    The books you want are:

MCDST Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-272): Supporting Users and
Troubleshooting Desktop Applications on Microsoft® Windows® XP, Second
    Edition (

MCDST Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-271): Supporting Users and
Troubleshooting a Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System, Second Edition

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

  4. Hi Matt,

From my understanding there is no plan to change the 070-272 exam with the
release of Office 2007. What you should expect to see in the first quarter
of 2007 is a new generation of MCDST for Vista, which would probably include
    Office 2007.

So you know I sat for 070-272 this morning and there were questions about
Office XP/2002, as well as Office 2003. Though I think you are better off
getting it over with, I would not worry about the changes you mentioned.

    Good luck!
