I'm capturing some old Disney movies for my grandsons (not out on DVD yet)
using DVD XPress and CapWiz, which came bundled with it. No complaints
about the video quality. It captures to .mpg, which plays fine on the
computer. I then use DivX to DVD (freeware) to convert, and that plays fine
on the computer. However, the burned movies have terrible sound, as though
it only has half the stereo (ever had one speaker quit?). Do I need to
switch software and extract the sound, then convert? Please help; I need to
    have this done by Christmas!!!!!

You'd probably be better off with a standalone recorder. Hook it up, push
    play, push record...BAM!..instant DVD.
