Sodimm memory differences?

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Slaughterhouse, Jul 6, 2003.

  1. Good day! I have an Hp Pavilion 5415 laptop with an extra memory slot
available. I can add a 256 mb Sodimm chip (sdram). After checking both
Crucial's and Kingston's websites for the ram, I decided to check out Ebay
as well. This is my question: Using the specs from my existing ram chip, can
I use a ram chip from a different model (like a Dell or Sony) with simular
specs? The reason why I'm asking is that quite a few sellers point out that
their ram is model specific. My existing ram specs are :256 mb pc133-333 C2
latency 144pin sodimm. Would there be any reason a ram chip from another
model with simular ram spec NOT be compatible? Thank you very much with your
time with this problem, I appreciate it very much!
