Hi, i was about to order a Sigma 20mm f1.8 EX lens for my Canon 10D camera
after reading excellent user reviews on photography review

    http://www.photographyreview.com/ps....8,EX,DG,ASPHERICAL,RF/PRD_85099_3111crx.aspx

    I have just looked at

    <http://www.photozone.de/2Equipment/easytxt.htm#F14>

and could not believe it when it rated it as 1.91 (poor) out of 5.

How can 24 reviews on photography review be so positive about this lenses
sharpness etc, and photozone be so negative???

Is this a good sharp lens or not? i realise that this lens will not be sharp
at f1.8, but upwards from about f4 it should be shouldn't it???

    Regards, Mark

I use this lens with my D100. Optically I find that it
is very good at f5.6 - f11-ish, f1.8 is very useful,
giving acceptable results and the lens will focus to
a few cm. Also, there is little flare. There are a few
    problems though:
    1. The lens doesn't feel very robust.
    2. It is very easy to slip the focus ring into manual
with the camera set to auto (this causes the ring to
    rotate).
    3. Compared to the Nikon 20mm f2.8 it is very large.
    4. The filter size is 82mm (if I remember correctly) -
    quite expensive.
Overall, I think that this lens is very good for the money
but I really see it as a stopgap until I can afford the
    Nikon 12x24mm.
