I'm trying to get SFTP (OpenSSH version) to work over a WAN connection and
    the following error occurs:

exec: /usr/bin/ssh: No such file or directory

Now I can SFTP to the target machine on my LAN, so I'm assuming that the
issue is with my WAN firewall. I was under the impression that SFTP pipes
through port 22, same as SSH, and that is what I see when I monitor my port
connections real-time. Incoming traffic to port 22 is open to traffic from
expected WAN addresses, so why is the connection failing on the WAN connect

SFTP -v -v -v {destination} reveals no additional debugging info.
