    Update:

CATSA has published details of what is allowed carried on the plane
("Items not counted as carry-on") when flying from a Canadian airport
to the U.S. It includes specific guidelines for camera equipment.
    Allowed are:

"o Cameras (still and video) and accessories in purpose-
    designed carrying cases
    - includes film, lenses, spare batteries, chargers, cables
    - includes large, professional-grade cameras and equipment

(See "Items not counted as carry-on (US flights)" in
    http://www.acsta.gc.ca/Page.aspx?id=77&pname=measures_mesures&lang=en
    or http://tinyurl.com/yergtk3.)

    Good news for travelling photographers.
