removing items from startup menu

  1. I am using 98SE.
    When I go to msconfig >startup it is easy enough to uncheck boxes, but is
    there a way to permanently remove the item from the menu. That is I don't
    even want it on the list. Every so often in seems that a box gets rechecked,
    but it is an application that I never want to start by itself, only when I
    invoke it on purpose.

    Try Mike Lin's Start up control panel

    You can untick then delete when satisfied etc.
