Receving IDSN incoming calls on a 2621XM

Discussion in 'Cisco' started by Stephan Cohen, Oct 23, 2003.

  1. Hello all,

I'm setting up a 2621XM (12.2(8)T5) for ONLY RECEIVING ISDN calls from
remote users (using a PC Notebook with an ISDN card).
I don't need to do call back from the central site to the remote PCs.
The central site can be reached on 2 ISDN phone lines (extension 8030
and 8031), connected to the 2621XM.
All the datas sent by the remote users must be considered as interesting

    -------- -------- ... --------
    |User 1| |User 2| |User N|

    LAN

The users will call the central site from time to time to connect to
internal servers and can connect through any phone extension numbers (at the
remote office or in an hotel room for example).

Here is the configuration I've already set up
I've 4 BRIs (1/0 to 1/3), with the same configuration

    interface BRI1/0
    ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
    encapsulation ppp
    no ip mroute-cache
    dialer idle-timeout 18000
    dialer-group 1
    isdn switch-type basic-net3
    ppp authentication pap chap
    !
    interface BRI1/1
    ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
    encapsulation ppp
    no ip mroute-cache
    dialer idle-timeout 18000
    dialer-group 1
    isdn switch-type basic-net3
    ppp authentication pap chap
    !
    interface BRI1/2
    ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
    encapsulation ppp
    no ip mroute-cache
    dialer idle-timeout 18000
    dialer-group 1
    isdn switch-type basic-net3
    ppp authentication pap chap
    !
    interface BRI1/3
    ip unnumbered FastEthernet0/0
    encapsulation ppp
    no ip mroute-cache
    dialer idle-timeout 18000
    dialer-group 1
    isdn switch-type basic-net3
    ppp authentication pap chap
    !
    dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit

    I managed to :

    - define all the users are defined one by one:
    username user_1 password 0 pass_user_1
    username user_2 password 0 pass_user_2
    ...
    username user_n password 0 pass_user_n

    - extend the connection duration:
    router#conf t
    router(config)#interface bri1/0
    router(config-if)#dialer idle-timeout 18000

    - define that all traffic comming from the remote users is
    interesting:
    router#conf t
    router(config)#dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit
    router(config)#interface bri1/0
    router(config-if)#dialer-group 1

Here are somme questions I'm still asking:
    - According to the Dial technology command references guide, it's
possible to use the "dialer map" command in order to receive calls,
but I've found no explanations nor examples (for incoming
    connections). ?
    - Is there a way to "aggregate" the configuration of the 4 BRIs ?
    - Even if all my ISDN BRI are using the same connection, I can use the
8030 but I always get deconnection with the 8031, and I can't figure
    out why.
Here is the debug isdn events logs :
