I just put the standard 18-55mm lens back on my d300 after using my 300mm
    zoom all
day and I keep getting a err99. Camera will not operate. Put the 300mm back
on, works just fine. The code in the manual states that a err99 is an error
other than listed, reinstall battery. I know the lens must be the issue.
    please any info would help.
    Thanks

  2. Error 99 is often caused by bad electrical contact between the body and
the lens. It sounds like your 18-55 may have got some dirt on the contacts
    - clean them carefully and try again.

    HTH,

    Mike.
