Hi Does anyone know of a list of voip providers that are capable of adding records to the UK ENUM registry operated by Nominet? I could not seem to find it on their website. Of course, a few minutes later, I turned it up:- http://www.nominet.org.uk/enum/businesses/enumregistrars/ Sadly neither Sipgate or Gradwell are registered yet. If you have an account there, please pester them! -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.12 (MingW32) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iQIcBAEBAgAGBQJLXTdNAAoJEKba9nIFysTL0qUP/jTbC5ZN8dwtX4g8HlalRDiu 12MP2iUBlojginScai1COGIdNx14+dhtdVyT6CTtgAiV+aLt1JJ7IfEv+kb+ZNaN xWg3amVGVydjqRXIvC+OHvnkDF14zUEUlCFdb2cFHnAEWHEZiJRUnhrhAuMZczDP wsBCrmr+sEEsiGzJrquEqFokvKDKG0tuDMeDy9U/3c2x8QXCVxCqgjC6Rn2PRKn/ 9TqgksMmmFDmM0J+PJKzfrQgdt1xB5b1U4jUSAT2OeDcMVjR0Y/AsWwzjEq7Z3Mv 2FUC6ta3LFwPb+8ljOtX7oPbFSmkehqN+LvnPhZQo7EfnZAej9+l2X/BoxlaXHSi 5qxS1reIyTjHVv1v8uyjEqQaT16frGMxFoL8M172z2FOZlITN5mGPX+bv0Z/YNZG vigt2RZYK7eW/ISKK4Q7yo7J6b80AsykHUkGem+BL3PXoRZKxdtxcp2+XoopqwQ4 1OyMHK1JhpBYs57JFOXOfz6OaYhH9ZZN14iSZxFD5r7rTDSF+nxuO3pi2FdrFUyc 3qA1jMiF8jiRHqngiizBGz0VyshxjHep6g25CLZP9GjL2Y//JmPtcWFl1OwrHeZ/ QWbca+uLUK6I0RzKpwiThm9Fu+KF0G7QeVCi+8m8JO0lEhM1/isa+P0E4U07ylbj MWxjcpNEW44/GyfP2/Lp =BTk1 -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
eNum gives us a way to bypass the PSTN to allow a VoIP phone (or PBX) to call a (geographic) number which also has a VoIP means to reach it... And strange as this may seem, that's not in everyones interests - especially not the interests of people who make money placing and taking calls via the PSTN... Also, to work, the recieving end must allow incoming calls from any source without authentication/validation, and more importantly *trust* the incoming caller ID to be who it says it is. Surprisingly not everyone wants to do that either. eNum is one of those things that's good on paper, but isn't going to be widely adoped in the real world - at least until the business model changes. Well, that's my opinion anyway. Gordon
Hi there, We (Gradwell) are evaluating ENUM heavily and our MD, Peter Gradwell, is the Chair of the UK ENUM Working Group (ukec.co.uk) developing the business model for ENUM.
