Hello to all interested home wireless router experts!

I have recently inherited a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX400 WRT54GX4. I have successfully set it up on my main home desktop computer and it seems to be functioning correctly. (I have high speed internet through a TV cable modem at this location).

I would now like to add the equipment necessary to my other computer on the other side of the house in order to pick up the wireless signal from the router. Both computers have the Windows XP Operating System.

I am hoping that someone will verify for me that the device I need to install on my remote computer is the Linksys Wireless G USB Network Adapter SRX400 WUSB54GX4. I am under the impression that this is the "receiving" part of the "wireless router" setup and the router is the "sending" device. Is this correct?

I am also under the impression that this will work without me having to contact my high speed internet service provider (Comcast). Is this also correct?

Thank you for whatever assistance you can render me in this matter!

  2. Hi
Yeah in principle your assumptions are correct.
Provided that the distance can be cover and there is no serious signal

    Hello Jack

I went ahead and bought the adapter (based on your advice), set it up and
    it's now working perfectly!

Thanks so much for your help!

    Hello Jack:

Based on your advice I went ahead and bought the adapter for the remote
computer. I had no trouble setting it up and everything is now working

FYI: I wasn't sure that the signal would pass through the three concrete
block walls necessary to reach the remote computer in another building on my
property. The other building is 100' away but the signal strength was still
86%. Is this amazing or what?

Thanks for your help - you were the only one to reply and I want you to know
