Play DivX & wmv files in QuickTime on Windows?

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Markus Winter, Oct 5, 2007.

  1. Hi all,

I'm writing a program which needs to play a wide variety of movie
formats on both MacOSX and Windows (using the QuickTime movie
    player).

On the Mac it now plays everything I can throw at it after installing
Perian (a Codec collection for QuickTime) and flip4mac).

On Windows I installed the XP Codec pack, and the Winows MoviePlayer
can play DivX & Avi etc (but not mov and mp4, that's why I want to use
QuickTime), but how do I get QuickTime to play all formats like on the
Mac? (I associated QT to open all files)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Markus

Mplayer - open source and free with windows command line and GUI I
believe (that may be only *nix as of yet though)

http://freshmeat.net and you should see it as the #1 popular choice on
    the right side.
