    Win 98, OE6, Ticked "read messages in plain text" in options, but it
    doesn't work.....
    Any thoughts.?

    What that setting should do is eliminate the display of graphics and
    HTML-based formatting (backgrounds, colours and whatnot.)

    It doesn't do anything else. Is it not even doing *that* much?
