PC reboots when disconnect button clicked

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Champagne Charlie, Feb 4, 2004.

  1. Every time I click on the 'disconnect' button to disconnect from the
internet, the screen goes blank and the machine reboots. I am greeted with
scandisk and I'm back in business. Does anyone know what might be causing
this to happen? I use WinXP Pro and have one of those AMR/CNR type modems on
a DialUp connection (56K). All I know is that it is a definite 'loss of
power' situation, but ain't got a clue why it's doing it.
    TIA.

Control Panel / System / Advanced / Startup and Recovery.
In 'System Failure', uncheck 'Automatically restart'.
Now check the error message, when it happens, and post
    back.
