Pc Making beep/pinging noise

  1. Hi
    On switching on nothing happens except pc tower makes beeping / pinging
    sound. Any clues please?

    First, remove all cards and anything removable from the MoBo - memory,
    etc. Then put back in only the necessary - ie video card, preferably,
    and just one stick of memory. Keep going, adding one item at a time
    until possibly booting fails, then you know what device is causing the
    problem.

    Your HDD may have crashed. Start by booting a Live CD such as Knoppix and
    see if you can access the HDD. This is a good hardware test.
