This tablet OpenSSL is affected by the heartbleed bug and can't
be updated. If I run VPNoneclick when accessing Internet, will
that protect me from being hacked due to this bug?

  2. Which tablet is "this"?

"All versions of Android are immune to CVE-2014-0160 (with
the limited exception of Android 4.1.1; patching information
for Android 4.1.1 is being distributed to Android partners)."

Are you running any of these apps? If so, follow the above advice:

    Digital 2 Or D2.
    It has 4.1.1
    No updates available
It looks like all the apps I use are fixed or unaffected, passwords have
    been changed.

Isn't the heartbleed problem on the server end, not the client?

Reading the article, it sounds unlikely that a client will have a heartbleed
issue. However lots of people wget, and that supposedly could be hijacked.
