I'm checking out a Nikon 8700 for a friend of mine, he's not very happy with
it. The shutter response is very slow! My Fujifilm 2.0 meg camera reacts
He wanted it for some sports photography, soccer, karate, etc. I've been
playing with it, and I'm not impressed with it. I also can't seem to find
any kind of sports mode. There's a night mode, but no sports mode?
Any suggestions or thoughts on this camera would be appreciated.

  2. Turn continuous AF off if on. In the setup menu set for fast release of the
shutter under monitor options. Use shutter priority and use the shutter
button half-press technique to prefocus on something close to your intended

  4. And use the HIshg-speed continuous shooting mode. BTW, the 8800 has a
psorts mode. Unfortuantely, all the modes are "hard-wired" and if you
use one, you cannot override any of the settings.

  5. That is the camera's weak point. I've had one almost since they were
released. The camera takes beautiful pictures but that shutter lag
cost me so many good pictures that it hurts.

Because I do it with one small ship, I am called
a terrorist. You do it with a whole fleet and are
    called an emperor.
