New Releases: 'Classic' TV, More from Paramount: Updated complete downloadabe DVD DB & info lists

    It looks like the upcoming releases of Babe (P&S and Widescreen) and Casper
    (P&S and Widescreen) will feature Dolby EX audio. Got this from a studio
    representative and still waiting for the 'official' announcement. The discs
    are set for release on September 23rd.

    Buena Vista has something for fans of Thora Birch and Pirates of the
    Caribbean star Keira Knightley. They will release The Hole on October 14th.
    The very initial specs indicate Dolby 5.1 and widescreen video. Also on that
    date they will release Mimic 3: Sentinal.

    Universal has confirmed that Duel (1971/Special Edition) has been postponed
    the the previously announced release date of August 12th. No information yet
    on any new date.

    Going against the trend of stereo music DVDs Red Distribution is set to
    release a number of classic concerts with re-mixed audio. Johnny Cash: A
    Concert: Behind Prison Walls and Pink Floyd: The Dark Side Of The Moon will
    receive Dolby 5.1 soundtracks while Atomic Kitten: Right Here Right Now,
    Peter Green Splinter Group: An Evening With and Sinead O'Connor: Goodnight,
    Thank You, You've Been A Lovely Audience are due for Dolby 5.1/DTS 6.1 ES
    audio. All discs will be released on August 26th and run you $20.98.

    Paramount has a few more of their low cost, $9.99 line of films. Added to
    this collection are Oliver's Story, Pretty Baby (1978) and Out of Towners
    (1970). The first two are set for November 18th while the last will street
    on November 25th. The initial specifications once again stated full screen
    but after a call to the folks over at Paramount it looks like anamorphic
    original aspect will be used for the video. All are scheduled for stereo

    Buena Vista has Blue Car on deck for release on October 14th. On that date
    they also have Naqoyqatsi which was originally slated for March 18th but
    later listed as cancelled. Each should have 5.1 audio and anamorphic video.

    September 30th will see A&E's release of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: Complete
    2nd Season and Victory At Sea, the acclaimed series of World War II clips.
    Quinn will cost $109.95 while Victory is set for a $79.99 price. They also
    have Mayor Of Casterbridge on September 30th.

    A.D. Vision will release Gene Roddenberry's Earth: Final Conflict -
    Destination Darkness, on September 16th for $69.98. No official list of
    episodes, content or extras has been announced yet.

    Goodtimes has some mostly family oriented triple features which will include
    the films, a cartoon and some other old time theater extras. All are due on
    August 26th for $11.95. Included are Cinderella / Sleeping Beauty /
    Thumbelina , Superman Vs. Nature And War / When Popeye Ruled The World /
    Casper The Friendly Ghost, Sinbad / The Three Musketeers / The Count Of
    Monte Cristo , Snow White / Beauty And The Beast / Alice In Wonderland ,
    Betty Boop And The Girls Of Mischief / The Best Of Betty Boop / Gabby And
    His Gullible Friends, Superman / Popeye / Top 10 Forgotten Cartoons Of All
    Time , Jungle Book / Pinocchio / Leo The Lion , Little Princess, A / Curly
    The Littlest Puppy / Happy The Littlest Bunny , Aladdin / The Hunchback Of
    Notre Dame / Hercules , Call Of The Wild, The / Moby Dick / White Fang ,
    Little Mermaid / Pocahontas / Black Beauty and Gift Of Snowman /The
    Nutcracker / Christmas Carol.

    Image is in the midst of their monthly mass release announcements. Ten disc
    set Rockthology, The: Box Set (October 28th). TV Guide Looks At Christmas
    (scenes from past and present TV shows, popular holiday films etc), October
    14th. Elaine Stritch At The Liberty on October 21st.

    Image has the Dick Van Dyke Show: Season 2, featuring all 31 episodes, two
    episodes with commentary by Van Dyke and Carl Renier, other episodes with
    commentaries by Rose Marie, Ann Gilbert and Larry Matthews, Interview
    Segments with Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore, "Mary Tyler
    Moore Remembers 'Bank Book 6565696'", Joy Commercials, "The Cast Remembers
    Jerry Paris", "Rose Marie and Morey Amsterdam Remember Buddy and Sally",
    1963-1964 Emmy Awards Footage featuring David Jansen, the cast of The
    Beverly Hillbillies, Fred MacMurray, "The Making of 'It May Look like a
    Walnut!'","Stump the Stars" Program Excerpt with the Dick Van Dyke Cast.
    Cost is $59.99 on October 21st.

    Image gets on the double feature band wagon with Thirsty Dead, The / The
    Swamp Of The Ravens (October 21st), Zombie Collection (Living Dead Girl /
    Reincarnation of Isabel / Night of the Hunted) (October 7th), Vampire / The
    Vampire's Coffin (September 16th), Bloody Vampire, The / The Invasion Of The
    Vampires (September 9th) and Zodiac Killer, The / The Sex Killer / Zero In
    And Scream (October 14th). All have a suggested price of $19.98.

    If you would like to see Woverine (Hugh Jackman) sing get his stage
    presentation of Oklahoma from Image on October 14th. Also from Image on that
    date are two 'special interest' discs, Omen Legacy and Alien Saga which
    presents 'moments' from each film in the respective series, interviews and
    behind the scenes footage.

    Season One of the Dick Van Dyke show is due out by Image on September 2nd.
    For Season One the UPC is 014381155723, for season two 014381155822.

    Extras for Season One are listed as bonus "Head of the Family" pilot episode
    featuring Carl Reiner, cast retrospective interviews and featurettes with
    Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke, Morey Amsterdam and Rose Marie CBS promo spots,
    excerpt from the 1961-1962 Emmy Awards, Cheer commercial spots, commentaries
    by Carl Reiner and Dick Van Dyke for 2 episodes.
