Minolta's G400 vs F300

Okay, so these camera's fit slightly different bills. The G400 is in the
micro size camera category and the F300 is bigger, but still small enough
    for what I'm looking for.

I was amazed that no one has posted anything for either in this group (or so
my search resulted). Does anyone have any opinions they'd like to share, as
I'm looking toward them to replace my Optio 330.

Also, what's the deal with shutter lag times being so long. I was at the
local good camera store (and Best Buy) to test shutter lag times and all the
newer cameras have a really long lag even when pre-focusing. I was told (at
the good camera store) that digital cameras have a hard time with flash.
This came to me as a surprise. To compensate for this issue, the new
cameras fire the flash twice (with red-eye off). The shutter opens on the
second fire, which means more lag... the thing I hate most.

    Thanks,
    b
