MCSE: Security certification

    the short answer is yes. it will appear as a separate cert
    on your transcript. here is a direct quote from MS about
    benefits.
    "The primary benefit of achieving the certification is
    that you can demonstrate your skills as a systems engineer
    with a specific focus on designing and implementing a
    secure Windows 2000 network infrastructure. In addition,
    you can demonstrate skills appropriate to creating a
    secure computing environment. Individuals who achieve the
    MCSE: Security certification will receive a certificate,
    lapel pin, and wallet card to mark the achievement. Your
    MCP transcript will show "MCSE: Security on Microsoft
    Windows 2000" in the Microsoft Certification Status
    section. "

    basically the benefit to specialization is if you are
    planning on working in security you can say you have a
    security certification.
