I have three boxes all working happily together on the same router with
each able to access a SBC Yahoo DSL internet access (about 313 KB/s max
but all to frequently a lot slower.) One box is XP Pro, a second is
Windows Me, and third is SuSE 10.0 Linux. All access the internet with
no problems. The two windows boxes can access each others files and
printers and scanners. I haven't made any attempt to access the printers
and scanner from the Linux box. I have an old printer dedicated to it.
The router is a Netgear and it works fine with all three boxes.

elaich once pondered into the vast depths of his mind and came up with this
    to say:
Why doesn't it? Zoomtown DSL worked with Linux. Why won't Yahoo SBC DSL?

All DSL companies say that because they don't support Linux. It doesn't mean
that it doesn't work. It's just an internet connection for crying out loud.

  8. Ya really. Like this is going to slow anything down in the piracy
world. My heart bleeds over bill looseing a couple million after how
    many he stole from others.

That spells fishy. I've been using SBC DSL with Linux since 2001.

That's because it doesn't need an installer. It uses bog standard PPPoE.
In some areas they had some proprietary Ameritech hack, but they stopped
using that a couple of years ago, at least in Chicago. In any event,
their software on the PC is just a script wrapped around PPPoE.
