Using windows XP Pro my printer would not work today. When I look in "device
manager, hardware," I see that the "LPT! port is not present. I have used
"system restore back to a date when the printer did work but still have no
LPT1 port in Device manager-hardware. I have tried to remove and re-install
printer and it`s software but no help. Printer is canon s750. All help will
    be greatly appreciated, Jerry Knight

Maybe it`s switched off in the BIOS.
    Restart computer, access BIOS
(it normally tells you how on the 1st screen).

Make sure that LPT/Printer hasn't been disabled in the BIOS.
