listening in a different port than the expected

  1. I did "nc -l 5000", but when I look if the netcat is listening in the port 5000, I noticed that the program is running in the port. Why this happens?

    tcp 0 0* LISTEN 0 6296 1681/nc

  2. Hello,

There are various flavours of netcat. Some require that you specify the
local port with -p even in listening mode, some don't.
