I'm work on a wap problem on a mobile network. There is a Lucent LAC
tunnelling to a 2600 LNS. No problems are noticed until the wap device
retrieves content that causes IP fragmentation at the LNS. Three
packets are seen at the LAC - two encapsulated in the tunnel, the
first 1500Byte packet containing most of the wml content, the second
contains 5 bytes udp data which doesn't seem to be related to the
first packet. The third packet is also a fragment but there is no
l2tp/ppp/ip just eth/ip/udp, the source address is the lns and
destination is the LAC, the data contained in this packet contains the
rest of the content, but will never get to the device, because the
    l2tp-ppp-ip part is missing.

    any ideas..

I work for a major Telco that has the LAC responsibilities in the Ameritech
region. We set our ip mtu @ 1600 between LAC & LNS. This would take of any
fragmentation between LAC / LNS. You might give this a try, if you can get
the other end to agree to change also.
