iPod shuffle - kubuntu

Hi all...Running kubuntu gutsy.

My niece has given me her old 1GB ipod shuffle. I can access it and load
mp3's via gtkpod without any problems.

The unit has a folder called "iPod_Control" with subfolders "iTunes" and
"Music" in which prefs and songs are stored.

Can I trash the whole drive so I have a nice clean unit to start with.
Will gtkpod reformat the newly trashed ipod when I mount it.

Or should I just live with the fact that a few MB of the unit are being
used by i-tunes, even though I don't use i-tunes.

borked the db on my shuffle and used gtkpod to start again from scratch. That
should give enough info to say, go for it, and do what you like, you can always
rebuild it with gtkpod.

 

Deleted everything from the ipod so I got a full 1GB of space. Then
gtkpod offered to rebuild the directory structure as you said it would.
Loaded a few mp3's. No problem. Thanks.
