    Someone said it very well recently: Windows Media-compatable players are
    accessories for the Windows Platform. The iPod on the other hand *is* a
    platform.

    Apple makes it very easy to get precise mechanical drawings of the iPods
    and the electrical and mechanical specs for the dock connector and they
    have gone to some trouble to make sure that the iPod Nano fits in the
    same dock and dock-like accessories as the iPod Mini and iPod do.

    Yeah and they make it so easy to write software for them and the software is
    so good and utter BS.
    A computer platform is not something you stand on.
