Silly me. I downloaded IE 8 (beta) on my laptop - XP. Every time I
    opened
it, it would open at microsoft.com page, with a 'get it now' message
promoting the new IE. To get to my home page I have to click on the
    home
icon. The address for home page remains as google, which is my
    choice, but
it always opens at this microsoft page. I uninstalled the IE 8 from
    add and
remove programs, which left the original IE 7 but now with this home
    page
problem. Usually I use firefox, but find IE better for some
    applications, so
please; no advice to use different browser. I have searched around
    for
solutions, but only found that I am not alone. Any suggestions?
