In Camera Noise Reduction And RAW

    Just been reading about the High ISO Noise Reduction on the Canon 40D (CO.Fn
    II-2) and was wondering whether it works on RAW files as well, or just JPEG.

    No processing is done on RAW images - the file contains the raw sensor
    data so there is no noise reduction or other processing done.

    However, it may be (and is probably the case) that Canon's PC software
    will note the value of the setting and apply the same noise reduction
    when you use the software to convert the RAW file to an image file.
