IFS to NTFS without loss? Knoppix reformats drives?

I ran a live cd of Knoppix 3.4
A day afterwards, I booted XP and one of my partitions has been turned into
an IFS file system (used to be NTFS).
XP now wants to format it in order to read it.
Any way of not losing the info on that partition?
It seems to me the Knoppix is the cause of this problem.
