i need to know which laptop hard drive i need

    hi...my acer aspire 1350 hard drive just broke ...which is bad as i
    have to take the whole laptop apart to get to it....im going to go on
    ebay and upgrade to a 60gb as i have to change it.......ive been told
    its a 2.5" ide 100....is that all i need to know...will they all fit
    as long as it is an ide100....i have no idea about this....any help
    greatly appriciated...has anyone replaced one on an acer

    Any 2.5" IDE HDD will work in your laptop as long as the motherboard will
    support the drive size 60 GB should not be a problem for that laptop but
    check the mfg website to be sure . The 100 is the transfer speed(Mb/sec).
    most IDE drives run at this speed today

    Other information that is helpful is the RPM speed of the drive most laptop
    drives spin at 5400 RPM for battery conservation, the faster ones spin at
    7200 or 10000 RPM but battery time will be affected between recharges

    Another spec to consider is the access time 8ms is good above 10ms is slow
    (the higher the number the slower the drive is for file access)

    MTBF (mean time between failure) would be important to the life of the
    drive. This is a more advanced spec if there is a price difference between
    ideal drives.
    People have their favorites for manufacturer but most name brand drives
    (Segate, Western Digital, Quantum, Hitachi) are all about the same for
    quality. Some are noisier than others but all of these brands should do the
    trick for you
