How to stop animations on Web pages w/Firefox?

    The STOP icon of Firefox turns off after the page is loaded. Why isn't
    it like Netscape's? Hit Netscape's icon and all those damn irritating
    animated pics stop instantly.

    Somewhere I must be missing something.

    In the suite, you can go into the Privacy & Security > Images
    preferences and select that animated images should never loop. Firefox
    may have a similar option (I tried out 0.8, but I've since deleted it
    and can't remember if the option was there), or you can search through
    about:config .
