Is there any setting in Win98 Outlook Express which will delete read
    binaries that have been crossposted?

You could use NFilter. The web page seems to be down,
but I could post the zip file to alt.binaries.test if you like?

Get a real newsreader and not an obsolete, virus magnate, bug prone
email program to read the NEWSGROUPS
