I have just installed a hard drive into my pc. I have set it as slave
although it's the only hd in there. The reason for this being the jumper pins
are missing from the hd and using the drive with no jumpers lets you use it
    as slave.

The bios is recognising the hard drive.but when i try and install windows xp
from the cdrom, it starts off loading all the files, then when you make a
choice of either repairing current system or instaling new system it says no
    hard disks found on computer.
could this be because i have the hd set as slave.Does anyone have any advice
as to how i can acess the hard drive in order to format and instal windows.

Go to a compuer repair shop and ask them for a couple jumpers, I think they
would give them to you, if not give me an address and I`ll mail you a couple
