Gigabyte GA-7VA mobo and Soundblaster 5.1 live

    has anyone managed to get these to work together, they certainly don't with
    the 5.1 in the first PCI slot.

    Try gigabyte newsgroups.

    Try a different PCI slot. Disable onboard sound in the Bios. Turn up the
    volume. Did you plug the audio jack in the right hole? Using a GA-8IPE
    Pro2000 Mobo and one of those sound cards: it works. That Realtek audio
    player that comes with Gigabyte Mobos must have the ugliest, most
    psychotic Gui in history
