Genuity DNS servers down?

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Michelle Richards, Jul 25, 2003.

  1. I work at a stationary company in Michigan and, since Wednesday night,
have been having a problem with a number of our home-based employees
using home routers with the DNS servers set as 4.2.2.1 and 4.2.2.2.

So far, all these employees seem to be with SBC or Comcast, and all seem
to be close to the West coast in either California or Washington state.
They can tunnel into our servers and access raw IP addresses just fine,
but cannot access Websites because the above DNS servers are not
resolving the Web addresses. Like I said, this has been going on since
    Wednesday night.

We've plugged in a number of backup DNS servers that work, but would
prefer to stick with the Genuity ones since they're more likely to be
"permanent". Is there anyone familiar with issue who knows what might be
    going on? TIA
