fraud: Upgrade your browser for faster

    Yes, I know that web-based 'gmail' is not actually mail.

    I was pleasntly surprised that `links gmail.com` connects to gmail, while I'm
    fetching my other email & stuff.

    Because I'm at the tail-end of the globe, gmail often shows <it seems a bit
    slow, so you can select basic HTML.>

    Now I read in the page:-
    "You are currently viewing Gmail in basic HTML. Upgrade your browser for faster,
    better Gmail".

    HOW could an 'Upgraded browser" possibly be faster?
    Obviously google wants me to have a cartoon in-ya-face reception, so they
    can manipulate my mind. Or have I overlooked something?
