Font display probles in Win98 (anti-aliasing?)

Discussion in 'Computer Support' started by Jack B. Pollack, Sep 9, 2003.

  1. I have 2 Windows98 computers, both hooked up to the same monitor through a
KVM switch (so I know the problem is not the monitor).

When I type something on one computer (Word/Wordpad) in a small font (10pt)
it is fairly clear and smooth. When I type it on the second computer (same
program, font, size) it is less clear and smooth.

I think that the problem is related to anti-aliasing, but the only setting I
am aware of that controls this is Control Panel - Display - Effects - Smooth
Edge of Screen Fonts. Both computers have this box checked.

The only differences I see is one is Win98 4.10.1998 and the other is
    4.10.2222A.
    One is IE6 6.0.2600 the other 6.0.2800

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  3. Count me in, blockhead. No-one is interested in who you
    killfile.

    That is so very neat!
As for myself, I wear cotton shirts and denim pants.
