i'm trying to create a file (specifically a file with a .txt extension only) viewer compatible or applicable to Nokia 6600, Samsung SGH-E360, and Sony Ericsson K700i. What are the needed configurations and profiles for the application? i'm using J2ME and MIDP. please help...

From MIDP you can use RMS to read/write the contents of your file.

For PC to phone communication you can use JSR82 or use MIDP
to access serial port (USB cable). See CommConnection. But you
need to write PC side of things.

If you thinking about accessing (writing to) directories from MIDP, think again.
