Fighting The Last War

  1. Microsoft is saying that Windows 8 will be optimized for slates “from the get-goâ€

    This seems to be a recurring characteristic with Microsoft recently: Vista
    was designed with the assumption that desktop machines would have more and
    more power to waste, and it ended up being completely blindsided by
    netbooks. So Seven was designed to curtail the resource consumption to some
    extent. But then tablets came along, and it doesn’t work well on them at
    all.

    I don’t know what’s going to come along to render Windows 8 irrelevant, but
    it seems a pretty safe bet something will...
