Sorry if this is already posted.. didn't get hits on my search.

I have a dell 6000 laptop. I haven't owned an external drive for a few
years and then it was on a desktop. At one time, I recall someone
telling me there is a concern of powering an external hard drive when
using it on a laptop. Is this still true? Or can I just buy any
    external HD for my laptop?

    thanks

You have the choice of 2.5", or 3.5" Externals.
If you don`t have to transport it, get a 3.5" with it`s own
    Power Supply.
